Amazing Benefits of Red Light Therapy

I bought myself a red-light device a little while ago now having first heard about its benefits on a Podcast with the founder of Joovv. I was put off purchasing a Joovv device because they ship from the US which makes returns rather tricky. I looked into cheaper versions but was concerned they might not be powerful enough to produce the same results. By chance, I came across a company called Red Light Rising, their devices are very similar to Joovv but they are UK based.

Although these devices are still pretty pricey, the benefits of Red Light Therapy are just too good to miss out on, as they say, ‘you can’t put a price on health’ (well you can, the smallest device is £95). I did my research and all the reviews were really positive so I justified it to myself (“I need it”, “I haven’t been going out so it has been offset”, “I will fix my hamstring so save money on physio” etc etc) and got myself the original half stack.

When it arrived, I was really pleased, the quality is fantastic, “almost too solid” I thought when it fell on my foot. Accidents aside, I absolutely love it and was definitely an investment not to be regretted. This isn’t an ad in case you’re wondering, I haven’t been paid or received any freebies to write this (although if they fancy sending me something Red Light Rising, I wouldn’t say no ;-). I wanted to share this little find with anyone that wants to give red-light therapy a try, once you’ve read about the benefits I bet you will!

What are the benefits?

Muscle Recovery - Helps aid muscle recovery and reduces DOMS (delayed muscle muscles soreness).

 Improved Cognitive Performance – RLT increases increases cerebral blood flow, increases oxygen availability & consumption, and a boosts ATP energy production through enhanced mitochondrial activity. RLT can improve reaction time, attention, executive function, and memory.

Improved Athletic Performance – Red light therapy has been scientifically proven to improve strength, endurance, speed, and muscle growth.

Sleep Optimisation - red light therapy can improve sleep quality and duration, and help people produce more of their own melatonin (the hormone which signals to your body that it’s time to go to sleep).

Reduces Inflammation – RLT has been proven to reduce inflammation which can help with the treatment of disorders of joints, traumatic injuries, lung disorders and in the brain.

Helps Alleviate the Symptoms of Arthritis – red light therapy can reduce pain, swelling, and morning stiffness while increasing hand flexibility. Emerging laboratory research in 2018 is showing that red light therapy has the potential to treat arthritis at a cellular level and address the root causes.

Skin Rejuventation – Red light boosts the production of collagen which can help reduce the signs of aging. Research has shown that RLT can reduce the signs of fine lines, wrinkles and sun damage. It can also reduce the appearance of acne scars and burns.

If that hasn’t convinced you to go out and buy yourself a red-light device, I don’t know what will, I can honestly say mine was well worth the investment.
